1 Two Step: Also known as the Texas Two Step, this is the easiest dance to learn and quickly become highly proficient at. Can be performed with either Country-Western or Ballroom influences, or a combination of the two.
Triple Step: A fun and super easy-to-learn dance with a simple repeating three-step pattern.
Quickstep: With some nuanced variation, this dance is essentially the ballroom version of the Texas Two Step.
East Coast Swing: An American foundational swing partner dance performed in both the country and ballroom genres. It is a fun and popular beginner-friendly dance characterized by a graceful circular motion with a grounded feel due to its simple repeating pattern.
West Coast Swing: A smooth, graceful, somewhat improvisational, partner dance that is adaptable to virtually any type of music from R&B to contemporary country. This dance is defined by basic core patterns and fluid, rolling continuous movement. The footwork for the West Coast is built on the basic steps of the two- and triple-step dances.
Lindy Hop (AKA Jitterbug): An energetic partner dance with African and European influences originating in Harlem, New York. The dance became a cultural phenomenon during the “Roaring 20s” Swing Era due to its improvisation steps and iconic moves. These frantic moves are how the dance got nicknamed the “Jitterbug” when Cab Calloway said the dancers “look like a bunch of bugs jittering around.”
Waltz: Three Versions
Ballroom: Performed in a "box" with a forward-back and side-to-side motion.
Country: Travels around the floor while performing turns and spins.
Viennese: A graceful and fluid waltz done at a fast tempo while traveling around the floor while constantly spinning.
The Hustle: A dance performed in all genres from country to ballroom. It is best described as a combination of Swing and the Two Step.
Horseshoe Shuffle: A graceful country circle repeating pattern partner dance made popular on the west coast.
Electric Slide Line Dance: A four wall line dance that became popular in the mid 70s and is still a huge favorite at weddings and parties across the country. This is a simple dance with an easy, repetitive pattern.
